National Pancake Day is February 28th!

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - The Children's Miracle Network Hospitals and IHOP Restaurants will celebrate National Pancake Day on Tuesday, February 28th.  In return for a donation to Levine Children's Hospital, guests at participating IHOP Restaurants will receive a free, short stack of its famous buttermilk pancakes.  IHOP seeks to raise $2.7 million this year.

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Chick-fil-A rolled out a new Kid’s Meal, which is anticipated to be one of the most nutritious in the country, featuring Grilled Nuggets as an entrée. Compared to an “average” hamburger kid’s meal offered at fast food restaurants, the new Chick-fil-A Kid’s Meal (grilled nuggets [4-count], fruit cup and low fat milk) contains almost 60 percent less calories and an estimated 85 percent less fat. The chain also is enhancing its side choices by adding Buddy Fruits® Pure Blended Fruit To Go applesauce.

To celebrate the launch of the new Kid’s Meal, the company is hosting an open house Thursday, Jan. 12 from 9-11 a.m. You’re invited to the Chick-fil-A at South End where you can see, try and learn about the product yourself. We will also be giving backstage tours of the Chick-fil-A kitchen, so it’s something you don’t want to miss.

Grocery store gives Holiday checks to local churches

CHARLOTTE - A local supermarket chain is donating food to several local churches just in time for the holidays.

Compare Foods Supermarkets, a grocery store chain with five locations in Charlotte is donating checks to over 11 local churches to help purchase food for the Holiday season, according to a news release from Compare Foods.

As part of the program, churches collect Compare Foods receipts from its participants and submit them to the supermarkets to receive a percentage of the receipt totals as a donation. 

The program has been a successful partnership between the local churches and Compare Foods.  Additionally, the donation program has served to strengthen the relationship between Compare Foods and its customers.

As of October 2011, Compare Foods has donated the following amounts to these institutions:
