They're Banking on You: A Swine Evening

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - It's the most fun and creative charity event of the season!  A Swine Evening is a colorful gala Celebrity Piggy Bank party and auction.  Online and on-site, you'll have a chance to bid on about 95 celebrity-signed piggy banks and accompanying prizes.  There's also live entertainment, a dance floor, food, a full bar and both live and silent auctions.  Homeless children are banking on you!  Please join us.  You'll have a great time for a great cause.  Proceeds benefit A Child's Place, an organization working to erase the impact of homelessness on children and their education.

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - One of Charlotte's best keep fundraising secrets is set to kick off another weekend of wine tasting, eating and raising money for charity.

Every two years, wine and food enthusiasts gather to share their passion for tasting exceptional vintages and trying Charlotte’s fine cuisine.

One of the Southeast's largest wine events, the Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend begins Thursday, April 18th, and runs through Sunday, April 22nd.

STOMP plays the Blumenthal

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - STOMP is explosive, provocative, sophisticated, sexy, utterly unique and appeals to audiences of all ages. The international percussion sensation has garnered an armful of awards and rave reviews, and has appeared on numerous national television shows. The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps – to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms.

Meet two of Charlotte Parent's Kids Art Contest Winners!

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - This past Monday at noon, WBTV was pleased to meet two wonderful artists, both winners in Charlotte Parent's Kids Art Contest.  Grand Prize winner is Asherel Kaseorg.  Joining her was Elizabeth Park, First Place winner in the Grades 2-3 category.  Both girls displayed their winning entries.  Incredible artwork!

The Kids Art Contest entries will be on display at the Levine Museum of the New South starting Sunday, April 22nd, through the end of May.

Partnership with Railroad Earth To Bring Added Creative To Festival

Music On the Mountaintop, the annual music festival outside Boone, North Carolina has announced that the eclectic festival will return this August 24-26, 2012 as Railroad Earth's Music on the Mountaintop. Celebrating its fifth year, Music on the Mountaintop is expanding to include three full days of music, including two nights of Railroad Earth and other special events on Sunday with the band. Having played the previous two Music on the Mountaintop festivals the Americana-based band will be taking on a bigger role, helping to curate the lineup for 2012. More artists and festival details will be announced in the coming weeks.
